During his studies at the College of Law, National Taiwan University, Attorney Xavier C.P. Chang specialized in Civil and Commercial laws (Contract law), real estate laws, the Consumer Protection Act, and intellectual property laws. After obtaining his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Laws from National Taiwan University, he pursued his doctoral studies in private law at Université Paris I - Panthéon-Sorbonne, France under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Education's general scholarship for overseas studying.
Over the course of nearly 20 years in practice, Attorney Chang has been dedicated to handling disputes in civil and commercial contracts, real estate transactions, intellectual property cases, and entertainment agency contracts. He has successfully managed numerous cases, including trademark infringement cases for internationally renowned online English teaching companies, copyright agency and trademark disputes between prominent music producers and bands, structural study and contract drafting for large-scale real estate transactions, drafting of film and television licensing agreements, and litigation involving construction disputes and claims. Furthermore, Attorney Chang has served as a legal counsel for several major enterprises, including international telecommunications media, well-known e-commerce platforms, global record companies, renowned music agencies, large-scale medical optical equipment distributors, renowned education platforms, renowned women's news media, medical equipment developers and manufacturers, and international tobacco companies. Attorney Chang's professional competence and extensive practice experience have earned clients’ recognition and trust.
In addition to practicing law, Attorney Chang has actively participated in bar association activities. Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Taipei Bar Association. He also served as the Executive Director of the Lawyer Training Institute, National Bar Association and as one of the first representatives of the members of National Bar Association.
Attorney Chang has been appointed as a Political Advisor to the Executive Yuan, starting from November 13, 2023 to May 19, 2024.
Since 2001, Attorney Chang has been serving as a lecturer on civil law in the judicial officer and lawyer training program at "Get Education Institution". With over 20 years of teaching experience, Attorney Chang has nurtured numerous judicial officers and lawyers. Attorney Chang has an extensive collection of publications. In addition to classic works such as "Civil Law: Obligation I", "Civil Law: Obligation II", "Civil Law: Rights in Rem", and "Essentials of Property Law", each of which has undergone over 20 editions, Attorney Chang has also compiled his practical experience in cases and published books including " Winning Strategies for Trade Secret Litigations" and "Entertainment Law: Disputes over Film, Television, Music IP, and Contracts.
