Attorney Chiaying Lin was graciously invited by Grand Justice Ming-Ying Shieh to present a lecture at the Law School of National Taiwan University, focusing on "The Impact of Technological and Social Development on Trademarks - Important Cases and Development Trends."
During her presentation, Attorney Lin delved into the evolution of modern trademark law, shedding light on the first registered trademarks in various countries including France, the U.K., the U.S.A, and Taiwan. Notably, Taiwan's first registered trademark is the "Formosan Sika Deer" associated with Paochong Tea.
The emergence of internet, metaverse, and AI has significantly influenced issues surrounding trademark distinctiveness and the likelihood of confusion, rendering it a compelling subject for future exploration.
